Russell Williams Elected as New Chair of the Board of Directors


BioCanRx is pleased to announce that Russell Williams has been elected as Chair of the Board of Directors. A member of the Board since 2018, Williams took over the role from outgoing Chair Ken Newport in January 2025.


Russell has made a significant impact across the healthcare and life science eco-systems and will continue to bring his experience and expertise to BioCanRx as we grow our organization’s impact in the coming years.


Currently Senior Vice President, Mission at Diabetes Canada, Williams has effectively and successfully advanced the organization’s mission to support and promote positive outcomes for those living with diabetes. He has also served as President of Innovative Medicines Canada (formerly Rx&D), an association of over fifty innovative life sciences companies and he has participated in a number of key coalitions focused on improving research, healthcare, and ethics networks. He was previously the Member of the Québec National Assembly for the riding of Nelligan.

 

Russell Williams’ leadership working with all governments at the federal , provincial and international levels, as well as with key stakeholders in the health, research, patient, and economic sectors, has been aimed at creating a better environment for improved life science research, healthcare sustainability and improved health outcomes. This commitment to improvement and sustainability will be invaluable to the future growth of BioCanRx and to our cancer immunotherapy network in Canada.
