BioCanRx at the World Indigenous Cancer Conference

The third World Indigenous Cancer Conference (WICC) took place earlier this month in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. WICC 2024 brought together speakers from around the world, key Indigenous cancer researchers, clinicians, advocates and community members to “identify international research priorities, foster new collaboration, enhance capacity and share knowledge and information about Indigenous people living with cancer on a global scale.” The conference theme was ‘Process. Progress. Power.’ Attendees heard from speakers addressing both challenges and progress across the cancer continuum. BioCanRx’s President and CEO, Dr. Stéphanie Michaud, represented the network at WICC and presented a poster outlining BioCanRx’s Indigenous Student Summer Internship program. Dr. Michaud was pleased to speak with many delegates about our program – including Madison Hartill-Law, Inclusion Consultant at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (top photo above) and Dr. Malcolm King, Scientific Director at the Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-Oriented Research (SCPOR), University of Saskatchewan (bottom left photo).
